News Debates

The Orwell Prize | Journalisted | Transparency Initiative | Press Self-Regulation

The Media Standards Trust holds regular live debates to raise awareness about standards in news.

These address critical questions facing the news media – the relationship between the media and public life, the boundaries between news and private life, the relationship between journalism and public relations, and so on.

Ongoing event series

The Trust recently launched 'Why Journalism Matters' - a new series of talks on the purpose and value of journalism, and the multitude of changes and challenges the news media currently faces. Speakers include Lionel Barber of the Financial Times and Alan Rusbridger of the Guardian.
