Your privacy

How we look after any details you tell us

Any information you give to us including your email address whether by email or by filling in a form, may be used by Media Standards Trust for the effective administration of this site, to improve our services generally, for marketing and promotional purposes and to communicate with you.

Every time you receive a message from us, you'll have the option to decline to receive further information relating to the activities of mediastandardstrust.org.

Your details, by that we mean your name or any other information which will allow you to be identified, will not be given to anyone else unless either you give your express permission or it is necessary for us to do so in order to comply with the law or with police investigations.

That means, for example, that your email address will not be seen by any other user of the site except as stated on the site or with your express consent. However, you agree that we may disclose to third parties your postcode, gender and/or age, but only in the form of statistical information and not in any way that identifies you.

If you send in your story or opinion, we may publish your words with your first name and age, and the town or area you live in.

By sending in your story or opinion, you are granting Media Standards Trust copyright of the piece and permission to use, modify, copy, distribute or publish part or all of any such piece. You promise that you are able to give Media Standards Trust the right to publish the story or opinion, that it is your own work and does not contain any other person's work and is not copied from another work; and that the story or opinion does not contain anything that is defamatory of other people or is otherwise illegal.

In addition to any details that you submit on a form or send us, information is automatically retrieved, for example on browsing patterns through the site. This is used only in statistical form; no individual user is identified. This data allows Media Standards Trust to analyse how many people are coming to the site, how often and to what sections, and helps us to provide a more relevant service.

We may use cookies but only to store information such as your User ID, which would enable us to identify whether you are registered onto the website, and if so, to shortcut your access to the site.

This privacy policy only relates to the mediastandardtrust.org website and does not extend to your use of the internet outside the mediastandardstrust.org website; in particular, it does not relate to any sites to which you may link using the hypertext connections within the mediastandardstrust.org site.

By using the mediastandardstrust.org website you consent to the use of information obtained from you in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Please note that we may change our Privacy Policy from time to time, but will always post those changes on this page; so please re-visit this page from time to time.

If you have any questions or comments about this privacy statement or our Privacy Policy, please contact gavin.freeguard@mediastandardstrust.org.
